Imagination power! Kid 2 thinks of the Bard (WS LEGO not seen above) as “Shakesbeard” and “Shakesbeer.” Which do you think he would like better?

which-y words flaying, zinging
out like darts in flesh

Ode to An Absent Friend
The red slide of your
back. An arc, bowing willow,
bark tethered to moon.
Daily Imaginations
Three-headed robot.
’Sooth, “Shakesbeard” shall slay them all!
Words flare, sabrepoints.
The Art-Light Game
Light leapfrogs our wall.
Chiaroscuro hop-scotches,
Pollock play-splotches.

Shakesbeard is great fun! But I love the ode to an absent friend 🙂
These are great. I especially love Ode to An Absent Friend and the line “bark tethered to moon.” Such a great line!
Shakesbeard/Shakesbeer – nice! I especially like the dog poem, though it did release a pang of sadness as I remembered some of our absent friends.
Your absent friend looks just like my absent friend, who died aged 17 — the same colour coat and everything. I agree with Jack Flacco, the line “bark tethered to moon” is a wonderful line.
Leigh I am smiling at the lego as this was a key piece of day to day life in our house for many years. We still have a huge container of it for when we have visitors with kids. Your pup bowing down is so cute. I admire your eloquence with words. As if they magically roll out like an art form.
Thank you, Sue. You are very kind!
“bark tethered to moon” is so original that you need to copyright it. i won’t be surprised to see it on a tv commercial someday.
