From perspiration to creation

Hands strain, bone on blank wood. Limbering the lines demands a gymnast agile to what waits. To satisfy any critic is a balance; words, an avoirdupois. Writing is a willingness to be bruised.

    • Thank you so much, Madhura, for your kind compliments on the penultimate Trifecta (and sorry I missed your comment until now); I love what you’re doing with your blog, blank verse and all (I find blank verse really difficult to write). Best wishes to you, and happy writing!

      • I’ve only been trying, really! But thanks a lot, I’m glad you like it! Your blog is very enjoyable, too.. And I look forward to keep meeting you… Happy writing to you too! 🙂

  1. Wow!What fab writing-love this Leigh-so true what you say and I had never seen the word “avoirdupois”-had to look it up -so learnt anew word 🙂

  2. Every word was used precisely, especially the one that I had to look up for its definition – avoirdupois. No need for bruises here, brilliant writing!

  3. Quite an impact to place together: “avoirdupois. Writing is a willingness to be bruised” as that was, most certainly, the line that balanced it all with the greatest weightiness!
